I would like to formally welcome Pearls of Wythall and Barnt Green WIs to Worcestershire Federation. They were both formed in January; I hope that their members will enjoy the fun, friendship and opportunities which the WI has to offer. I look forward to meeting their members at some of our many events.
Last month Bromsgrove WI was featured on the front cover of the Newsletter. I send my personal congratulations to them on reaching 100 years. I am very much looking forward to meeting their members at their birthday lunch on 14 March.
Back in 2016 you may recall that we held a poetry workshop with Brenda Reed-Brown, Gloucestershire’s Poet Laureate, in conjunction with National Trust Croome. Our member’s contributions were to be part of a collection of real life stories expressed through poems about a female relative’s life during the First World War. I had the pleasure of attending the opening of the “Plumline Exhibition” at Croome and would like to share with you a report from Peggy Booth, who is a volunteer at Croome and also a WI member. Please see her report on our Board of Trustees page.
I look forward to seeing many of you at our Spring Meeting at The Artrix, Bromsgrove on Monday 24 April 7-9pm. The speaker is Dave Fletcher, a Polar Explorer and Historian. The closing date for applications is 24 March but please contact Trudi in the office after this date to see if places are still available.
Don’t forget the WI is here to inspire you; It is everything you want it to be; It is what you make of it. So, ladies, continue to enjoy your WI and be proud to be a member.
