WOULD YOU LIKE TO BE A CRAFT JUDGE
A ‘Taster Day’ for potential craft judges will cover the practical process of judging, protocol, and the skills needed to judge a class with mixed crafts. This day will be free of charge and will take place on Saturday 1 April 2017. The course will start at 10.00am and finish at 3.00pm. Please bring your own lunch, coffee and tea will be provided. We will also discuss the possibility of running a Craft Certificate Award course for those interested. Closing date for applications is: 6 March 2017; the application form and further details are with your Secretary.

On 29 April 2017 from 10.00am - 3.00pm at WI House we will run a course for those with basic experience. You will learn how to read a pattern and shaping in the morning then in the afternoon start to make Crocodile stitch bag. Once you have the hang of it there will no stopping you and you can finish it off at home. Two colours of DK yarn required. The cost is £18 for members and £20 for non-members. The closing date is 30 March.
SUMMER ART DAYS 2017
The Summer Art Days are starting with a visit to Birchley Mill Farm, Bockleton near Tenbury Wells on Tuesday 9 May. All are welcome for an informal day of painting, sketching or photography just bring your art things, a chair and a picnic. Although there is no tuition, help is always at hand. The list of interesting and varied venues will be with your WIs shortly but for more information please call Rosie Wynne or Marion Inman.
Come and enjoy an art workshop on Monday 15 May 2017 from 10.30am - 4.00pm at the Canalside Studio, Stoke Prior near Bromsgrove. A WAY WITH WATERCOLOUR - local artist and tutor, Karen Hotchkiss, will cover elements of composition, perspective and then painting skies, landscapes and water. She will demonstrate a range of techniques and then we will use a variety of approaches to landscape painting. Tea and coffee are included and there is a cafe opposite the studio - with delicious cakes, sandwiches, jackets etc! This will be a fun day suitable for ALL abilities and a great preparation for the WI outdoor Summer Art Days! If the first workshop is oversubscribed, there will be a second day on Wednesday 24 May.
A SWING KNITTING (also known as Short Row Knitting) workshop will be held on the 18 May 2017 from 10.00am - 3.00pm at WI House. Come and make a pair of fingerless gloves to master the understanding of short row knitting. This small project is a fun introduction to endless design ideas. All garter stitch with some increasing for the thumb so not too complicated!! The cost is £18 for members and £20 for non-members. The closing date is 13 April.
