As many of you have already realised, the adverse weather conditions have caused considerable disruption across the country. The distributors have been liaising with Royal Mail to try to establish when they expect to have caught up on the backlog they are currently having to tackle in their various depots. We have just heard from them that Royal Mail expect to be back on track by this Thursday 14 December, which we believe should mean that all the booklets will have arrived by then, future weather permitting! Secretaries should allow until next Monday 18 December before considering a parcel to be missing. We would respectfully ask, however, that the deadline for reporting missing parcels remains 1 February 2018.
The 2018 WI membership booklets are currently being prepared and, as ever, will be packed with vouchers for discounts and offers on everything from day-to-day essentials to some of life’s little luxuries and it will again also be possible to view the offers online. As in previous years, we have arranged for the distributors to organise delivery direct to WI Secretaries. Please also see the notification in the News pages of the November/December 2017 issue of WI Life.
Parcels will be despatched during the week ending Friday 1st December 2017.
If a delivery has been attempted whilst the occupant is not at home, the driver will make every effort to leave the package(s) in a safe dry place, or with a neighbour, to await the occupant’s return. If this is not practicable, a card will be left asking the occupant to contact the carrier to arrange an alternative delivery time.
Please let WI House know as soon as possible if you have not received your booklets by 9th December 2017.
As the booklets are distributed prior to subscriptions actually being renewed, it is not always possible for the membership figures to be up-to-date. A copy of the letter sent to WI Secretaries will also be included in your parcel and we would be grateful if you could please arrange for WI Secretaries to collect any extra copies that may be needed from your office, or arrange delivery in your usual way, eg via WIAs etc. Federations will receive at least 100 extra booklets for this purpose.
