BROMSGROVE WI REACH THEIR CENTENARY
Congratulations to members of Bromsgrove WI who celebrate their Centenary this month - our second WI to achieve this milestone. Around 40 members and guests gathered at The Life After Stroke Centre on March 14 for a special meal and slice of birthday cake to mark its inception during the First World War.
President Christine Hickman-Smith said: “A celebration meal was enjoyed by all and representatives from The Primrose Hospice gave an uplifting talk about their work supporting children and young families. Bromsgrove WI has flourished over the years, and although the membership is smaller today, we are still active and we would be pleased to welcome new members.”
The group was formed in 1917 when Lady Plymouth of Hewell Grange and Lady Margesson of Barnt Green called a meeting at Bromsgrove Station ladies waiting room.
Initial membership rose to 130 and the group still regularly meets today, on the second Tuesday of the month at 2.15pm at The Life After Stroke Centre.
